Creature - Beast 4/4, 2GG (4)
Sacrifice a Beast: You gain 4 life.1
Illus. Arnie Swekel
|
|
Instant, 2U (3)
You may choose an instant card you own from outside the game, reveal that card, and put it into your hand. Exile Cunning Wish.1
Illus. Zoltan Boros & Gabor Szikszai
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: Can't acquire the Ante cards. They are considered still "in the game" as are cards in the library and the graveyard.
- 5/1/2007: The choice is optional.
- 5/1/2007: If you fail to find something, you still exile this.
- 9/16/2007: Can't acquire cards that are phased out.
- 10/1/2009: You can't acquire exiled cards because those cards are still in one of the game's zones.
- 10/1/2009: In a sanctioned event, a card that's "outside the game" is one that's in your sideboard. In an unsanctioned event, you may choose any card from your collection.

Sorcery, 2B (3)
Until end of turn, you may play cards from your graveyard. If a card would be put into your graveyard this turn, exile that card instead.1
Illus. Ron Spencer
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: The second ability creates a replacement effect. It applies to both costs and effects.
- 10/4/2004: If you cast a Buyback spell, then there will be two effects trying to replace where the card goes. You get to choose if the Buyback returns the card to your hand or the card gets exiled.
- 10/4/2004: If an effect asks you to discard a card, you can't "discard" something that is in your graveyard. Those cards are not in your hand. Thus, Cycling abilities of cards in the graveyard can't be activated.
- 10/4/2004: It will exile itself since it goes to the graveyard after its effect starts.
- 10/4/2004: If you play a card using Yawgmoth's Will and something triggers only when "cast from your hand", that something will not trigger. Such things trigger based on where the card came from.
- 10/4/2004: To "play a card" is to either cast a spell or to put a land onto the battlefield using the main phase special action.

Sorcery, 1WB (3)
Destroy target permanent.1
Illus. Mark Zug
|
|
Sorcery, XX2WW (4)
Put X 4/4 white Angel creature tokens with flying onto the battlefield. Cycling {2}{W} ({2}{W}, Discard this card: Draw a card.) When you cycle Decree of Justice, you may pay {X}. If you do, put X 1/1 white Soldier creature tokens onto the battlefield.1
Illus. Alan Pollack
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: The two X's in the mana cost mean that you pay 2 mana (above the {2}{W}{W} base cost) for each token you want to create.
- 10/4/2004: When you cycle this card, the last ability triggers. When that ability resolves, you choose a value of X and pay it during resolution.
- 10/4/2004: You can cast this with X=0.
- 10/1/2008: Cycling is an activated ability. Effects that interact with activated abilities (such as Stifle or Rings of Brighthearth) will interact with cycling. Effects that interact with spells (such as Remove Soul or Faerie Tauntings) will not.
- 10/1/2008: When you cycle this card, first the cycling ability goes on the stack, then the triggered ability goes on the stack on top of it. The triggered ability will resolve before you draw a card from the cycling ability.
- 10/1/2008: The cycling ability and the triggered ability are separate. If the triggered ability is countered (with Stifle, for example, or if all its targets have become illegal), the cycling ability will still resolve and you'll draw a card.

Creature - Angel 4/5, 4WW (6)
Flying Whenever Exalted Angel deals damage, you gain that much life. Morph {2}{W}{W} (You may cast this face down as a 2/2 creature for {3}. Turn it face up any time for its morph cost.)1 "She is a theme of honor and reknown, ...Whose present courage may beat down our foes." -William Shakespeare, Troilus and Cressida
Illus. Rob Alexander
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: You only gain the life when the triggered ability resolves. If you are reduced to zero life before the ability resolves, you will lose before gaining the life.
|
|
Creature - Human Wizard 1/1, R (1)
{R}, {T}, Exile two cards from your graveyard: Grim Lavamancer deals 2 damage to target creature or player.1 "Fools dig for water, corpses, or gold. The earth's real treasure is far deeper."
Illus. Michael Sutfin
|
|
Creature - Human Wizard 2/2, WU (2)
As Meddling Mage enters the battlefield, name a nonland card. The named card can't be cast.1 Meddling mages chant so loudly that no one can get a spell in edgewise.
Illus. Nottsuo
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 2/1/2006: If you somehow manage to cast this while other spells are on the stack, those spells won't be countered.
- 5/1/2009: No one can cast spells or activate abilities between the time a card is named and the time that Meddling Mage's ability starts to work.
- 5/1/2009: Spells with the chosen name that somehow happen to already be on the stack when Meddling Mage enters the battlefield are not affected by Meddling Mage's ability.
- 5/1/2009: Although the named card can't be cast, it can still be put onto the battlefield by a spell or ability (if it's a permanent card).
- 5/1/2009: If you want to name a split card, you must name both halves of it (for example, "Boom // Bust"). Neither side of that split card (Boom or Bust) can be cast.
- 5/1/2009: If a card with morph is named, that card may still be cast face down. Face-down cards have no names.
- 5/1/2009: Some cards (such as Isochron Scepter, for example) let you cast a copy of a card. A copy of a card isn't actually a card, so Meddling Mage can't stop this.
- 5/1/2009: Once Meddling Mage leaves the battlefield, the named card can be cast again.

Land
{T}: Add {1} to your mana pool. {1}: Mishra's Factory becomes a 2/2 Assembly-Worker artifact creature until end of turn. It's still a land. {T}: Target Assembly-Worker creature gets +1/+1 until end of turn.1
Illus. Kaja & Phil Foglio
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: When it is an Assembly-Worker, it is an artifact and can therefore be affected by spells and abilities that affect artifacts.
- 10/4/2004: When it is an Assembly-Worker, it is still a land and retains all of its other abilities.
- 10/4/2004: Any counters on the Assembly-Worker remain even if the counters stop being meaningful when it de-animates.
- 10/4/2004: If an Assembly-Worker is changed to another land type, it will stay a 2/2 artifact creature and keep the creature type "Assembly-Worker" (until end of turn), but it will change its land type as directed.
- 10/4/2004: Tapping a land for something other than mana is not a mana ability.
- 10/4/2004: When animated into an Assembly-Worker, it has creature type Assembly-Worker.
- 10/4/2004: The card name does not change. It remains "Mishra's Factory".
- 8/1/2005: If another player takes control of the Factory while it is animated, that player keeps control until the control effect ends. They do not lose control just because the card stops being an Assembly-Worker. Note that Auras which steal cards will go to the graveyard if the permanent they enchant is no longer valid.
- 8/1/2008: A noncreature permanent that turns into a creature is subject to the "summoning sickness" rule: It can only attack, and its {T} abilities can only be activated, if its controller has continuously controlled that permanent since the beginning of his or her most recent turn.
- 10/1/2009: The layering rules have changed. Now if you animate a land and it's power and toughness are lowered by Mutilate or a similar effect, reactivating the land's ability won't reset the values. This is because you apply all effects that set power and tougness to specific values before you apply any that modify power and toughness, regardless of the order in which the effects resolve.

Land
Gemstone Mine enters the battlefield with three mining counters on it. {T}, Remove a mining counter from Gemstone Mine: Add one mana of any color to your mana pool. If there are no mining counters on Gemstone Mine, sacrifice it.1
Illus. Brom
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: Sacrificing this card when the last counter is removed is part of the effect of tapping it for mana.
- 9/25/2006: If the last mining counter is removed from Gemstone Mine in some way other than activating its ability (such as Chisei, Heart of Oceans), Gemstone Mine won't be sacrificed but its ability can't be activated.

Creature - Human Druid 1/1, 1G (2)

- 10/4/2004: You can put the cards from your library into your graveyard in any order.
|
|
Creature - Horror 5/5, 2B (3)
Trample Whenever Phyrexian Negator is dealt damage, sacrifice that many permanents.1 They exist to cease.
Illus. John Zeleznik
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: Sacrificing this card does not prevent you from having to make the other sacrifices.
|
|
Creature - Elf 1/1, 3GG (5)
Echo {3}{G}{G} (At the beginning of your upkeep, if this came under your control since the beginning of your last upkeep, sacrifice it unless you pay its echo cost.) When Deranged Hermit enters the battlefield, put four 1/1 green Squirrel creature tokens onto the battlefield. Squirrel creatures get +1/+1.1
Illus. Kev Walker
Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: The Squirrel tokens get the bonus, so they are effectively 2/2 creatures until the Hermit leaves the battlefield. And they get bigger if multiple Hermits are on the battlefield.

|
Sorcery, 3UU (5)
Target player takes an extra turn after this one.1 "Let's do it again!" -Squee, goblin cabin hand

Gatherer Card Rulings [Nov 2009]
- 10/4/2004: If multiple "extra turn" effects resolve in the same turn, take them in the reverse of the order that the effects resolved.
