This is a replacement effect (see Rule 419), so it is not possible to tap the land that just entered play for mana (as a mana source) before you sacrifice a land. [D'Angelo 2001/08/31]
The effect is cumulative. If you have 2 of them, the other player must sacrifice two lands for each one put into play. [D'Angelo 1994/08/01]
Extended tournaments (see Rule 803) have always banned this card.
